The Theater Our theater is located in the lower level of the historic Fortney Hotel in downtown Viroqua, Wisconsin. It is a shoe box diorama of a theater with a 13 x 8 stage and 55 old style movie seats which were salvaged from the Blaine Theater in Boscobel, Wisconsin. This unique combination creates an intimate setting that allows the audience to be immersed fully in the ambiance of the production.
The Velvetorium Lounge You enter another decade as you walk down the stairs and through the door of The Fortney Underground Theater. Our cozy, retro themed lobby boasts the largest collection of black velvet paintings in the Driftless area (we're up to eight!). Bask in the glow of Italian lights and enjoy a glass of wine before the show or during intermission.
The Building The Fortney Hotel, located at 104 North Main Street, is a Queen Anne structure built in 1899 and was designated as a Viroqua Historic Landmark in 2013.
